Full Description

Characteristic small enclosures and field banks shown on OSAD 6" and OS 25" maps. [1] In 1841 this was an estate of 50 acres with a farmhouse. It is now deserted - there is a platform on the steep side on a N-facing hill. Barns and sheds remain as shown in 1841 and to the E there is a large terraced platform with stone foundations and earthworks of the house site aligned N-S across the slope. [3] it is not depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1888, it was presumably abandoned between the creation of this map and the Tithe Map. [7,9] The site can be seen on aerial photographs. [4-6,10] A nearby water meadow and extant enclosure may be associated with the settlement.
