MSO7419 - Bronze Age burial cairn near Lang Combe (Monument)

Summary

The remains of a Bronze Age burial cairn is visible as a low mound measuring 5.2 metres by 5.4 metres and 0.7 metres high. There is a slight depression in the centre, indicating possible disturbance.

Full Description

A small cairn lies on an eastfacing slope, north of Dady Combe, at SS 86973 42985. The cairn comprises a circular, heather-covered mound, 5.2 metres north to south, 5.4 metres east to west and 0.7 metres high. A small depression about 1 metre square lies in the centre. It occupies a prominent position, about halfway down the hillside, and overlooking Lang Combe, on a natural terrace. The cairn was surveyed using GPS as part of the East Exmoor Project. [1] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [2]
