Summary

A farmstead site at Tilsey, shown on the Tithe Map of 1840, may be referred to by the entry of Richard Tiltechene in the Lay Subsidy of 1327. The modern (2013) map shows the barn to the north of the site as still extant.

Full Description

ST 078348. Deserted farmstead of Tilsey, indicated in the 1327 Lay Subsidy by the entry of Richard Tiltechene. [1] On the 1840 tithe map there is a farmstead here but only a cottage is shown on the OS 1:25000. [Tilsey Cottages extant on OS 1:10000 1976]. [2,3] Tilsey Barn and Tilsey Cottages are shown on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. [4] The modern (2013) map shows the barn to the north of the site as still extant. [5]
