Full Description

A medium sized Mesolithic tranchet axe in Chelmsford Museum came from "Ranscombe". Listed as not located. Bartholomews Gazetteer gives only "Ranscombe" as a district in Somerset and "Ranscombe" in Kent. It is possible therefore that the artifact came from the Somerset site, Ranscombe at SS 947 431 in Wootton Courtenay parish. [1] Marginal site. [3]
