Full Description
Complex of stony banks up to 0.7m high forming a circular feature with two sub-rectangular enclosed lower levels which correspond in height to the surrounding ground surface. Difficult to distinguish between a ruined hut circle or a robbed cairn. [1] Centred at SS 8107 4111 are the remains of a cairn. It comprises an irregular spread of surface stone 11.5 metres across and 0.3 metres high. The northern and eastern part is best preserved with a well defined, curving edge. The remainder has been extensively robbed and disturbed, probably during the construction of the Porlock-Simonsbath Railway (MSO7906). [3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [4]
