Full Description

A post-medieval mill complex at Kents Mill thought to be 19th Century. The surviving features are a leat with sluices. There may be an associated water meadow system.[1,2] Mill now gutted and a dwelling. Trace of wheel pit. Site suggests a low breast wheel. [3] The vertical aerial photographs of the area, clearly show a system of drainage ditches, possibly a water meadow system to the south of Kents Mill and Farm at SS 9235 3090. [6,7] The 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps clearly show the mill leat, including sluices and an aquaduct. [2,8] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [9]
