Full Description

A post-medieval, probably 19th or 20th Century tree ring is visible on aerial photographs in the grounds north of Croydon Hall, Old Cleeve. Centred at approximately ST 0192 3884, the enclosure measures some 30 metres in diameter and was in use in 1947. It is not depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1888 and may have been constructed after this date, although this seems unlikely. At least two other tree rings have been identified nearby, and are believed to date to the 20th Century. [1,2] The tree ring no longer shows on the 1995 aerial photograph. [3]
