MMO2683 - Medieval or post-medieval strip lynchets northeast of Ford Farm (Monument)

Two substantial curvilinear earthwork banks or terraces are visible on aerial photographs to the northeast of Ford Farm, centred on circa SS 9315 4273. The earthworks are about 10 metres wide, and follow the line of the contours above a tributary to the River Avill on a roughly parallel course for approximately 200 metres. They are probably the remains of strip lynchets, evidence for the cultivation of the combe slopes probably during the medieval or post-medieval periods. [1-2]
