Full Description
Earthwork evidence for field boundaries, possibly indicative of strip field cultivation of probable medieval date, is visible on aerial photographs 150 metres to the northeast of Steart. The remains of two curvilinear lynchets are visible as earthwork banks centred approximately on SS 9377 4036, at the confluence of the River Avill and a tributary to the east. Two additional banks are visible as very low and narrower earthworks between the wider boundaries, and may indicate subdivision into strip fields. [1-2]
