MEM25125 - Possible late prehistoric hut circle east of West Lyn River (Monument)

Summary

A prehistoric hut circle was noted during field survey in 2009. The remains comprise a curved, stony bank forming the west and north sides of the feature; the rest of the monument has been damged by a well used track.

Full Description

The remains of a prehistroic hut circle lie to the east of the West Lyn River at SS 72821 43934. The remains comprise a curved, stony bank, 8 metres long, 0.4 metres wide and 0.8 metres high which forms the west and north sides of the hut circle. The rest of the monument has been damged by a well used track. The site was recorded using differential GPS during reconnaissance of the area. [1] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [2]
