Full Description
Earthwork of a ditch or channel which may be part of a post-medieval water meadow system know locally as catch meadow irrigation. The ditch was visible on RAF vertical photographs taken in 1947 and was centred at SS 9600 3730 and aligned northeast to southwest. It could be traced for approximately 135m, appearing to drain into a drain at the edge of a field to the south-east This was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Brendon Hills NMP project. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3] The description provided in [2] is incorrect, as the GIS mapping provided by the project depicts the feature running northwest to southeast. [4]
