Full Description

The linhay appears to be depicted on the 1838 Tithe Map for High Bray, within land parcel 763. This is named "East Down Wood" and listed as belonging to and occupied by Thomas Palmer Ackland Esquire. It was described as “Coppice” and measured at 15 acres 1 rod 32 perches. [1] The linhay is also depicted on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps but not annotated. [2,3] The linhay still appears to be extant but is obscured on modern aerial photographs by tree cover. [4,5]
