Full Description

The farmstead is shown and labelled as Natsley on the High Bray Tithe Map. It originated as a farmyard framed on its northeastern, southwestern and southeastern sides by buildings; these all appear to still be extant (with some small alterations and addition depicted in later maps). The northeastern building is coloured pink and appears to have been used domestically. By the time the 1st Edition map was surveyed, a new large square farmhouse had been built to the south of the farmyard, which is still extant. A well is also then marked within the farmyard and this is again noted on the 2nd Edition map. [1-4] The farm was visited in December 1996. The newer farmhouse is recorded as a four square stuccoed hipped roofed building dating from the mid 19th Century (sited for the view), with the farmyard of early rubble buildings a little below and behind it. They are described as being chiefly in two long parallel ranges down the slope, with one of the possibly the remains of a long house. A group of 20th Century farm buildings are noted to be beyond again and a little higher. [5]
