Full Description
The site was visited in January 1997. The farmhouse was thought to be 19th or 20th Century in date, facing a subdivided yard of rather altered 18th or 19th Century rubble buildings across a wide garden. The barn is very important from the road. A gap in the range opposite the house has an ostentatious gateway (of c.1900?). Extensive 20th Century farm buildings have been added to this group. [1] The Tithe Map for Dulverton and the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map shows a group of farm buildings in this location, many of which are still extant. Either the farmhouse was demolished and rebuilt slightly to the north, or a range of buildings to the right were demolished and moved slightly to the south, between the time the Tithe Map and the 1st Edition map were surveyed and other alterations to the layout of the site appear to have been made at the same time. The farmstead is labelled "Liscombe" on both maps. [2,3]
