Abstract/Summary
A large scale metric survey of an area of earthworks on a southwest facing spur between Pinkery Farm and Short Combe in Exmoor National Park was undertaken for the Exmoor Mires Project. The earthworks are interpreted as a complex of drainage channels. At least two phases of drainage can be seen and both phases probably date from the latter part of the 19th Century when the area was part of Pinkery Farm, one of the newly established farms on the Knights’ Exmoor Forest Estate.
