Abstract/Summary
Monitoring was conducted during the formation of new drainage to the south and west of the tower at the above location. Several burials were encountered during the works at shallow depths and of potentially early date as demonstrated by the fact that examples were found to be cut by the construction of the 13th century tower foundation. The south west corner of the existing nave was found to overlie a potentially early feature, possibly part of an east-west aligned gully or slot that may represent a component of the earlier pattern, possibly a structure pre-dating the later medieval stone church.
