Full Description
Boundary Stone. SS 71732 41379. A rectangular earthfast stone block, 0.6 metres high, 0.5 metres north to south and 0.2 metres thick, packed with small trigger stones at its base. There is a slight encircling hollow caused by sheep rubbing. This stone lies about 8 metres to the east of the Devon / Somerset County Boundary (also the west edge of the Forest of Exmoor), and is almost certainly a boundary stone. However no boundary stone is depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1890 [1] at this position. Surveyed at 1:2500. [2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
