MSO7128 - Post-medieval boundary stone on Broad Mead (Monument)

Boundary Stone (Fallen) SS 71732 41310. A rectangular stone block, 1.2 metres long east to west 0.4 metres wide and 0.3 metres thick, laid on the ground surface in an area of rough grass. A small white quartz stone supports its south side. There is a slight encircling hollow. This stone lies 4 metres to the east of the Devon/Somerset County Boundary (also the west edge of the Forest of Exmoor), and is almost certainly a fallen boundary stone and triggerstone. However no boundary stone is depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1890 [1] at this position, the nearest one shown was some 45 metres due south at SS 71732 41265 (MSO7137), of which there is now no trace. [2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
