Full Description
Several 19th Century adits and signs of surface workings are seen as earthworks around Wheal Eliza mine (MSO6802). Around 50 metres upstream from the mine are 2 or possibly 3 adits surviving as linear depressions with upcast banks on each side. The west adit is approximately 1.25 metres deep with large banks on each side for about 15 metres, then a slight depression runs up the hill possobly covered by a field wall to the north. The other river bank adits are similar. There are at least two others higher up the hillside and a circular rock-cut feature about 1.5 metres in diameter immiediately northeast of the main shaft (MSO12503). The rock outcrops northwest of Wheal Eliza cottage (MSO12505) also show signs of surface workings. [1-3]
