MSO10813 - Gilclose Farmhouse, Bury (Building)

Gilclose Farmhouse is probably early 17th century, altered in the mid 19th century. It is rendered over rubble, with a slate roof, overhanging eaves, roughcast stack between first and second bays left, and a lateral stack at the rear. Its plan is three cell and cross passage. There are single storey outbuildings adjoining on the southwest corner. The farmhouse is two storeys. On the ground floor the two windows are left of the single storey gabled porch; the outbuildings are to the right. It forms a good group with the farmbuildings to the north. [1] The building was visited in March 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 6. [3]
