Full Description
Milestone. Early C19. Sandstone and cast iron. Slightly cambered head to stone attached plaque central semicircular headed top, inscribed in raised lettering: "7 miles to Minehead", sunk so that lowest row of lettering is obscured. The road was cut in the 1820s. [1] English Heritage Listed Building Number: 265315. First Listed on 05/06/1985. [2] Stone walls. [3] The milestone is shown on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps. [4,5] The milestone was visited in May 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 1A and was noted to be elsewhere. [6]
