Full Description
H. SS 8868 4023. Within field system MSO9203 is a hut circle of 12.8 metres external and 6.1 to 6.9 metres internal diameter. Its walls now appear as partly grass-grown, rubbly banks or scarps 2.5 to 3.5 metres wide overall, obviously considerably spread. There is no clear entrance gap. The interior is terraced by cutting in upslope to c. 0.35 metres and embankment downslope to c. 0.6 metres. Walls on the east and west sides are c. 0.30 metres high. The hut is not connected to any other feature. [1-5] The hut circle is visible on aerial photographs. The hut circle is centred at c. SS 8871 4047. [6-11] The grid reference suggested by [4] is actually occupied by hut circle MSO10418. It is not clear whether that monument has been mistaken for this one; the mapping for this monument has, therefore, been left at SS 8868 4023. [12] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [13]
