Full Description

Milestone. Early C19, reset C20. Possibly sandstone and cast iron. Unusually tall cambered head stone, about one metre high set with cast iron plaque semi-circular central section to head, incised lettering: '10 miles to Minehead'. The road was turnpiked in 1824. [1] English Heritage Listed Building Number: 265431. First Listed on 02/01/1986. [2] 'Minehead 10' and 'MS' noted on 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps. [3,4] The building was visited in June 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 5A. [5]
