Full Description

Medieval or post medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs as earthworks north east of Combe Cottage, Nettlecombe. Centred at approximately ST 0569 3692, two low banks are visible, one running east to west for approximately 150 metres, and the second at right angles running north to south. The second boundary is much shorter and more fragmented, measuring just 19 metres long. Neither boundary is depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1888, suggesting they were removed prior to this date. Extant boundaries in the vicinity follow a similar alignment, suggesting the boundaries were possibly altered rather than abandoned. [1-3]
