Full Description

A large subcircular ditched enclosure is visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark in fields south west of Fair Cross, Nettlecombe. Centred at approximately ST 0503 3904, the enclosure is defined by an area of darker crop growth, probably a boundary ditch, measuring up to 4 metres wide. The enclosure itself measures some 72 metres across. The north-western edge of the enclosure has been destroyed by a hedgeline and is not visible. Its precise date is uncertain, but it may well date to the later Prehistoric period, possibly the Iron Age. Further survey is required. [1-3]
