Spoil mounds associated with a quarry can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs. The quarry is annotated as Old Quarry on historic mapping and predates 1890.

Full Description

A quarry and associated spoil mounds can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs centred on circa SS 8771 2856, approximately 240 metres to the west of Five Ways Cross. The spoil mounds area arrayed to the southeast of the quarry, two linear banks possibly defining an entrance to the pit. The quarry is annotated as Old Quarry on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey maps of Devon and Somerset, and therefore passed out of use prior to 1890. [1-3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [4]
