Full Description
A circular earthwork is visible on aerial photographs on Withypool Common centred approximately on SS 8163 3509. The earthwork is visible as a ring bank about 1 metre wide defining a small circular enclosure circa 6 metres in diameter. The earthworks may be the remains of a ring cairn of possible Bronze Age date, or a shell crater caused by military training activity of Second World War date. The feature cannot be seen on aerial photographs of a later date but may be obscured by vegetation.
