Full Description

The remains of a field boundary or flood defence bank of possible medieval or post-medieval date are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs, centred on circa SS 8046 3614 on the south bank of the River Barle to the west of Sherdon Hutch. It may be contemporary with further riverside boundary banks marked on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map immediately to the north, some of which have probably been destroyed by the changing course of the river, while others have been adapted and remain in use.
