Full Description
A field boundary of probable post-medieval date is visible as a narrow L shaped earthwork bank on the northwest facing slopes of the Warren, centred on circa SS 8816 3625. In total the earthwork is almost 200 metres long. For about 80 metres the bank gently descends from an elevation of 285 to 275 metres above datum, before turning circa 90 degrees to the northwest, and descending to the valley floor. The boundary is not marked on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of 1890 and therefore probably represents a phase of enclosure which failed or had been abandoned by this time. [1-3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [4]
