Full Description
A small pit, probably the remains of quarry of post-medieval date, is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork to the immediate east Prescott, at circa SS 8600 3930. The pit abuts a field boundary and the circa 8 metre wide pit extends around a corner of the field edge for approximately 20 metres. The pit is marked, but not annotated as a quarry, on the on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1890. This may indicate that the pit has passed out of use by this time. It is possible the quarry was excavated for material to construct the boundary that it abuts, but the current extent would support the interpretation that it subsequently continued in use for some time.
