Full Description
Possible evidence for a short section of grubbed up field boundary can be seen on aerial photographs of 1962, as a cropmark approximately 200 metres to the south of Venn Plantation. The V shaped cropmark is in total visible for 46 metres, with the point of the V pointing to the west, centred at circa SS 9278 4472. The cropmark does not appear to relate to the fairly regular extant field system to the east, but could be interpreted as demonstrating contiguity with the less regular field system to the northwest, as marked on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. The irregular boundaries of this field system may be indicative of a medieval origin. It may also be associated with the deserted post-medieval farmstead at Venn Plantation. [1-3]
