Full Description

The remains of a quarry of probable post-medieval date are visible on aerial photographs as earthworks to the southeast of Elseworthy Allotments, at circa SS 9277 4180. The pit is irregular in shape, roughly 60 metres long and between 8 and 15 metres wide. The pit is marked as Old Quarry on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1889, indicating it had probably passed out of use by this time. It may be medieval in origin but is likely to be post-medieval, if not 19th Century, in date. [1-3]
