Full Description
The remains of a pit, possibly a quarry of medieval or post-medieval date, are visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork roughly 300 metres to the south of Fairgarden Farm, at circa SS 9328 4198. The pit is roughly oval in shape, roughly 30 metres long and 20 metres wide, with an access track to its eastern edge. The earthwork pit and access track to it are marked on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1889, indicating it was probably in use at this time and is therefore likely to be post-medieval, if not 19th Century, in date. However, it may have continued in use for some time after this date. [1-3]
