Full Description
A large pit is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork in a field west of Kitswell Farm, Timberscombe. Centred at approximately SS 9680 4261, the pit is cut into a fairly gentle northeast facing slope, and measures some 30 metres across. It is depicted on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map and annotated "old gravel pit," suggesting it was abandoned shortly before publication in 1889. [1-3]
