Full Description
A small circular mound is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork on moorland north of Little Ashcombe, Exmoor. Centred at SS 78460 4067, the cairn measures approximately 10 metres across. It is located in a prominent position, close to the summit and overlooking the River Exe, and may be the remains of a prehistoric funerary monument, possibly a Bronze Age cairn or barrow. Further survey is required. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
