Full Description
A large circular mound is visible on aerial photographs on the northern edge of South Common, Oare. Located at SS 7976 4393, the mound measures approximately 10 metres across. It is situated in a prominent position, on a hill spur overlooking Badgeworthy Water, and may well be the remains of a prehistoric funerary cairn, possibly dating to the Bronze Age. Further survey is required. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
