Full Description

A small medieval or post-medieval quarry is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork cut into a slope above an unamed tributary of Hoccombe Water on Great Buscombe, Exmoor. Centred at approximately SS 7805 4199, the quarry measures approximately 12 metres across. It is not depicted on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map suggesting that it had been abandoned prior to publication in 1889. There is no indication as to what was extracted at this site.
