Full Description
A possible Bronze Age cairn or barrow can be seen on aerial photographs as an earthwork centred on circa SS 8587 4360, on the north facing slope of Babe Hill, Luccombe parish. The oval earthwork measures approximately 14 metres long and 10 metres wide and is located at about 370 metres above Ordnance Datum, close to the summit of Babe Hill. The longer axis of the mound is aligned on the slope of the hill. The earthwork is visible only on aerial photographs of the 1960s and has probably been levelled by agricultural improvement of the pasture.
