Full Description
A possible earthwork enclosure of later prehistoric date is visible aerial photographs, centred on circa SS 8643 4192 on the northwest facing slopes of Wilmersham Common, Luccombe parish. The potential enclosure is very subtle and visible only on infrared aerial photographs of 1982. However, the visible features have been interpreted as a roughly circular enclosure, defined by a bank on average 13 metres wide enclosing an area circa 45 metres in diameter. No entrance or evidence for internal features can be discerned, but it is typical in size and setting of an Exmoor hillslope enclosure. The possibility that it is of natural or geological origin must be considered.
