Full Description

A low earthwork mound visible on aerial photographs, centred at circa SS 8693 4142, Luccombe parish, may be the remains of a barrow of Bronze Age date. The mound measures approximately 16 metres in diameter, a similar size to the ring cairn or disc barrow approximately 70 metres to the northeast. There is no evidence of an encircling ditch on the available aerial photographs. Exmoor's central ridge houses a number of such prehistoric monuments, including the Dunkery Beacon group which incorporates the highest point on Exmoor. The Rowbarrow group is circa 500 metres to the east and this mound may be an outlying member.
