Full Description
A mound visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1947, centred on circa SS 8964 4051 near the head of Mansley Combe, might be the remains of a clearance cairn of medieval date. The earthwork is very low in height, roughly circular in shape and approximately 10 metres is diameter. It is not visible on later aerial photographs and was possibly levelled by agricultural improvement in the decades following the Second World War. [1-2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
