Full Description
Three circular mounds visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Exford common may be the remains of barrows of possible Bronze Age date. The mounds are located at circa SS 8521 4132, SS 8517 4129 and SS 8529 4130, between the 460 and 450 metre contours just below the highest point of Exford Common. Exford Common is itself part of Exmoor's central ridge, an area containing many known examples of such funerary monuments, including the nearby Bendells Barrows and Dunkery Beacon to the east. The mounds are circular or oval in shape, with diameters between 8 and 18 metres.
