Full Description
A small medieval or post-medieval quarry is visible on aerial photographs in a field north east of Pinkery Farm. Located at SS 7248 4132 and cut into a steep southeast facing slope, the quarry measures approximately 14 metres across. It is not depicted on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of 1890, suggesting it was abandoned some time prior to publication. It is possible that the quarry was opened by the Knight family as part of their agricultural improvements in the area, and it may be related to the construction of Pinkery Farm or Pinkery Canal.
