Full Description

A possible bomb or impact crater of Second World War date is visible on aerial photographs as a small earthwork on Ilkerton Ridge, Lynton and Lynmouth parish, at SS 7127 4578. It is approximately 4 metres in diameter. Probably associated with training activities or test firing fom the Exmoor Firing Ranges to the south and east, similar features can be seen in significantly greater numbers on Cheriton Ridge and Brendon Common. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
