Full Description

A trackway or path of probable post-medieval date is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as a possible low earthwork approximately 150 metres to the west of Tivington Farm, Selworthy parish, centred on circa SS 9285 4563. The interpretation of this feature as a path or trackway is based upon its alignment upon a gate in an adjacent field boundary and its extremely regular morphology; other than a short length of some 20 metres at its northeastern end it is almost perfectly straight for circa 130 metres. It is, however, unclear as to what the destination of this trackway may have been. A second, shorter length may be visible to the east of the field boundaries at circa SS 929 457 but is not very clear on the available photography and was not transcribed. The main trackway appears to have been levelled by ploughing by 1976. [1-3]
