Full Description
The Tithe Map for Wootton Courtenay shows a small building sited at c. SS 9381 4337, on the corner of the central T junction of the village. It is labelled 333a, together with a small parcel of land to the southwest. The Apportionment describes this as a cottage and garden (part of Gillams, 333, now the site of Fernlea - see MEM24275), owned by The Right Honorable Lord Sherborne and Thomas Poole [?or Hole] Senior, and occupied by Walter Davis. [1] The building had been removed by the time the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map was surveyed. It is possible this was in order to widen the road junction. [2,3]
