Full Description

John Leland writes in 1543 that " there is a litle tymbre bridge at Exforde over Ex brooke, ther being a smaul water." [1] This bridge predates the post-medieval stone bridge. It is quite likely that there have been further structures in place in the interim. It is not clear, for instance, whether this is the bridge depicted on the Tithe Map for Exford at SS 8522 3836, although presumably it was on this same site. [2,3]
