Full Description

An image of the first Lyndale Hotel dates to the mid 1830s. It stood near the harbour and was later known as Beach House. It had a C shaped plan, with gable ends projecting forwards on either side of the main eastern elevation. [1] A building is shown on the Tithe Map at c. SS 7225 4953. It broadly fits the location and layout of the building depicted in the image shown in [1] and is labelled 1440. The accompanying Apportionment describes this as a house and shops, owned by the Reverend Thomas Roe and leased and occupied by Nicholas Jones. [2] The building also appears to be shown on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps. [3,4] The building was not extant on the 2018 MasterMap data. [5]
