MEM23723 - K6 telephone box adjacent to The Pound, Brompton Regis (Building)

A K6 telephone box, of a type designed by Giles Gilbert Scott for the General Post Office to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the coronation of King George V in 1935. [1,2] The heritage asset was assessed by Historic England for designation in January 2017. It was noted that the telephone box has moved location within Brompton Regis at least once. The first cartographic evidence for the position of the kiosk is the 1975 Ordnance Survey Map, depicting the kiosk standing to the north of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, within the forecourt of the post office. In the mid 1970s the post office closed and postal services were relocated to the village shop to the south of the church. It is likely that the kiosk was moved to its current position at around this time. The village shop closed in 2008. It was decided not to add the kiosk to the National Heritage List for England. [3]
