MEM23507 - Post-medieval buildings to the north of Hams Lane (Building)

Summary

A small rectangular building is depicted on the Combe Martin Tithe Map and later historic Ordnance Survey maps. A further building was added to the site in the late 19th or early 20th Century. Only one of the buildings is now depicted on modern maps, in a ruinous state.

Full Description

A small rectangular building is depicted within the southeast corner of Plot 421 on the Combe Martin Tithe Map. [1] A building is also depicted within this location on the later First and Second Edition Ordnance Survey maps. On the Second Edition Ordnance Survey map an additional building is depicted beyond the field boundary immediately to the east. [2,3] The field boundary mentioned above is not present on the Ordnance Survey Mastermap, and only the outline of a single building is depicted indicating that it is now in a ruined state. It is not clear which of the two buildings is represented by the ruins. Located at SS 5870 4727. [4]
